Exposure visits

exposure visitsAt GREEN, we believe that one of the best ways to understand the concepts of sustainable agriculture is through peer-to-peer learning. Therefore we organize visits to farms outside localities familiar to the women, so that they may learn from the experiences of farmers like themselves. However exposure visits have proven to be more than just learning sessions.

They also help boost confidence levels, encouraging women to speak up about their challenges and express their concerns. The limitations of largely patriarchal societal norms often provide little opportunity for them to gain exposure to the world beyond the sphere of their own communities; the visits are a good way to enable this exposure and develop the soft skills and leadership capacity necessary for the women to become strong proponents of their own cause. Exposure visits are particularly useful in training of community resource persons, who form a strong pool of knowledgeable community members essential to our grassroots efforts to spread the message of sustainability.
